Why TLVS important. 

Governments in some countries have regulations importers to prove the legality of wood products in circulation, including those derived from imports, in each country. For example, the Government of the United States (USA) enforce the Lacey Act, the European Union (EU) with the Timber Regulation, Australian Illegal Logging Prohibition Act, and Japan with Green Konyuho (Goho Wood). Therefore, Indonesia must be able to prove that wood products exported from Indonesia is legal. If not then the global market will reject our products.

With TLVS, foreign markets become no doubt that the wood products they purchase from Indonesia not from ilegall logging. With TLVS, the farmers of the forest and indigenous people can raise their bargaining position and not have to worry discredited as timber when transporting wood for sale.

The legal basis TLVS 

TLVS came into force in June 2009 from the Indonesian Government issued Decree No. Forestry P.38 / Menhut-II / 2009. It occurs when the Minister of Forestry at that time, MS Kaban, approve and adopt the proposed stakeholders become mandatory Standards and Guidelines for Performance Assessment of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) and the Timber Legality Verification (VLK). In the journey continues to be refined with a revised TLVS P.38 / Menhut-II / 2009 to Regulation No. P.68 / Menhut-II / 2011 and added the revised Regulation No. P.45 / Menhut-II / 2012 and Permenhut No.P.42 / Menhut-II / 2013. Utilization License Timber Forest Products (IUPHHK) in Natural Forest and Plantation Forest Industry
Community Forest or Forest People
License Holder Primary Forest (sawmil etc) and Advanced Industries (timber mill)
Private Forests (Forests are located on land owned).
Timber Utilization Permit Holders (GPA)
